Over that last few years appropriation and digital manipulation have taken their hold of photography. Anyone and their mother can share photographs around the world on their shiny DSLRs set on automatic. The only thing that separates these amateurs from the professional world is creativity and skill. In my thesis I want to exploit the idea of moving forward in photography to recreate the line between weekend hobbyist and the studied photographer. Inspired by Giacomo Costa’s landscapes I want to work on continuing my Dystopian City series. I will take many landscapes from the area and push the bounds of reality until the work is no longer the “truth” that a lens used to portray.
